The water issues in our community have been devastating, and it’s clear that we need to do more to make every possible tool available to fix the problem.

This week I introduced the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Reauthorization Act, which extends and doubles the funding authorization for a critical credit assistance program designed to accelerate investment in our nation’s water infrastructure.

This commonsense, bipartisan bill will make more resources available for ecosystem restoration, non-point source pollution management projects, estuary conservation projects and more. In fact, by making an investment in this program now we can increase the amount available for water infrastructure loans exponentially from $1.5 billion to more than $5 billion.

This week, I was also able to secure a commitment from Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster to work with us to address harmful algal blooms.

These are both great steps in our fight for the health and safety of our community!
