I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating:

The goal of the BDS (“Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions”) movement is to delegitimize and destroy Israel. Unfortunately, some Members of Congress refuse to acknowledge that this movement threatens freedom, human rights and stability in the Middle East. They actively support this anti-Semitism and work to spread the movement’s bigotry.

Here’s the good news: the House recently passed a strong bipartisan resolution (by a vote of 398 to 17) against any efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel. The resolution also sent a clear message that the rhetoric of the BDS movement is dangerous.

That being said, I believe we must do more. That’s why I filed a “discharge petition” to force a vote on the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act of 2019. This is a bill that passed the Senate with strong bipartisan support and has more teeth than just a resolution. Our bill includes the Combating BDS Act of 2019, which would empower state and local governments to adopt laws that divest public funds from entities that boycott Israel.

Together, we can ensure anti-Semitism and the BDS movement has no home here in the United States. I will do everything I can to oppose this hateful movement!
