NEW BILLS PASSED TO HELP VETERANS
We will never be able to repay the debt we owe to those who put on the uniform in defense of our nation, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try. This week the House of Representatives passed a number of bills to better serve those who served, including:
- The Improving Safety and Security for Veterans Act to inspect patient safety, improve accountability and increase transparency at VA medical centers;
- The Department of Veterans Affairs Website Accessibility Act to improve the VA’s online services and ensure access for veterans with disabilities; and
- The Wounded Veterans Recreation Act to grant free, lifetime access to national parks and other federal lands to all veterans with a service-connected disability.
The great news is that all three of these important bills have already passed the Senate, which means they are now headed to the President’s desk to be signed into law! This is a big win, and I’m confident these new laws will make a real difference for veterans in our community.
