This week Congress passed the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act to support our national parks – including the Everglades – and make funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) permanent.
This is a huge deal because the LWCF has made critical investments over the last 50 years to support Florida’s $58 billion recreation industry, protecting more than 485,000 jobs across the state. This program is also instrumental in our fight to protect our waterways and restore the Everglades because it will directly fund deferred maintenance at national parks like the Everglades. So, I could not be more excited that we got this done!
This legislation is a major bipartisan victory that will protect our public lands and preserve our environment for generations to come.
In case you missed it, here are a few other things that happened this week:
- I continued fighting to secure big wins for our waterways in this year’s Water Resources Development Act, which you can learn more about here.
- House Democrats rammed through a ridiculous partisan bill that would pay for the legal fees of illegal immigrants with YOUR taxpayer dollars.
- I fought back against a false and dangerous big government narrative attempting to leverage support for our service members to send massive amounts our taxpayer dollars overseas to other countries.
