Investing in our Veterans
Veterans deserve the best care possible and that includes support in navigating the complex governmental systems designed to serve them. As a veteran myself who relies on the VA for healthcare, I know just how critical those services are.
That’s why I’m proud to announce that our office has officially reopened inside the Thomas H. Corey VA Medical Center. Starting today, a member of my team will be on-site every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to assist veterans with any questions, issues, or concerns.
Back in 2017, we opened the nation’s first-ever congressional office inside a VA facility. In the roughly two years that we held office hours in the VA Medical Center, over 500 veterans took advantage of the opportunity to meet with their Representative and members of my team. Many of these individuals faced mobility challenges that made traveling to a separate congressional office difficult — which made this on-site access invaluable. Unfortunately, in 2019, the Department of Veterans Affairs forced the closure of our office, along with two others operating in VA facilities.
Serving in uniform is a profound act of sacrifice — one made not just out of personal duty, but for the safety and well-being of our entire nation. Veterans leave behind their families, careers, and comforts to defend our freedom.
Just as they have invested in us, we must invest in them. Veterans deserve direct, accessible support, and that’s what the opening of this office will achieve.
