This isn’t just about geography
Today, I proudly cast my vote in favor of the Gulf of America Act, legislation that renames what was once known as the Gulf of Mexico to what it truly is: the Gulf of America.
This isn’t just about geography. It’s about patriotism, sovereignty, and restoring pride in the American people. For too long, we’ve tolerated narratives that overlook our history. But under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and strong patriots in Congress, we are standing up for the great land we fight for and defend every single day.
The Gulf of America touches five U.S. states: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Our Coast Guard patrols these waters, our Navy secures them, and our maritime workers rely on this vital stretch of water that has become critical for American industry and security. It is our gulf, and it is past time its name reflected that.
Let’s call it what it is: The Gulf of America
