The opioid crisis continues to devastate our communities, and illegal fentanyl is making it worse. Over the past four years of the Biden-Harris Administration, drug traffickers have flooded our streets with a record amount of this deadly drug across a wide-open southern border.

Did you know that one in two Americans knows someone affected by opioid addiction? This is a national emergency.

That’s why today, I voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act.

This bill will permanently classify lethal fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I substances, closing a dangerous loophole traffickers are exploiting, and making it clear that these highly dangerous substances  remain  strictly controlled. It also streamlines research on these substances while enforcing stronger penalties for traffickers and tightening import-export controls.

The HALT Fentanyl Act is a crucial step in fighting this crisis, protecting our communities, and saving lives, but we won’t stop there. To read more about efforts to address the opioid epidemic, click here:
