I joined America Reports on Fox News earlier today to talk about what’s happening in Washington and the Democrat shutdown—and it’s simple: Democrats won’t put down the shovel and reopen the government. They’re digging a deeper grave by doubling down and holding our government hostage over demands to extend Obamacare enhanced subsidies and fund ridiculous pet projects that ship taxpayer dollars overseas.

Here what we discussed: 

• Public safety in the sky. If air traffic controllers aren’t reporting to work, but the same number of flights are still scheduled, that’s a real safety threat that Democrats are using as leverage for political points. 

• The debate over Obamacare enhanced subsidies. Democrats keep insisting this shutdown is about expanding the Obamacare subsidies, but the truth is, they are refusing a vote on them, stopping us from having a real debate. 

• Time’s running out. Democrats have wasted 4 weeks throwing a temper tantrum, now we are running against the clock, pushing against another stopgap that runs out right before Thanksgiving—setting us up for another potential shutdown.

It’s time for Senate Dems to put down the shovel, stop playing games, and do the right thing for the American people: reopen the government, pay our troops, and debate healthcare on its own merits.
