We are officially back for the second session of the 119th Congress—and it’s been a packed week in Washington.

First, I’d like to address last weekend’s Operation Absolute Resolve—the successful capture of the illegitimate Venezuelan leader, Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. On Monday, I was briefed by Secretary of State, Marco Rubio; Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth; and several other Administration officials. It’s clear to me that this was a decisive law enforcement action that made our own backyard safer. It was an unequivocal success..

On the domestic front, I have some big news: the House of Representatives just advanced legislation that includes the highest level of funding for Everglades restoration ever included in an appropriations package. This is funding we’ve fought for year after year, and while it’s still short of the full amount needed, I’m encouraged by the significant increase we secured this year.

All of this, along with my thoughts on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, are part of the latest Week in Review.
