Why I Voted NO on the $1.2 Trillion Package
As your Representative, I’m fighting to defend YOUR tax dollars in Washington, D.C.
That is why when the House voted on the $1.2 trillion package last week, I voted no. Here’s why:
At a time when America is beset by numerous crises, this spending package failed to go far enough in addressing the concerns of everyday Floridians. The minimal spending cuts included within the package would not have put America on a solid fiscal footing or reversed the damage done during Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reign over the U.S. House of Representatives.
This isn’t hyperbole. The bill includes…
- $100 MILLION for diversity training in the Health Resources and Services Administration.
- $32.5 MILLION for the pro-abortion United Nations Population Fund.
- $10 million for organizations providing or promoting gender transitions for adults AND children.
On top of that, the legislation failed to properly address the ongoing crisis at our southern border. The package, however, did provide more than $880 MILLION to secure the borders of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman. The hypocrisy is out of control.
This package - consisting of 1,000+ pages - is sadly yet another example of lawmakers cramming as much unpopular spending as possible into one bill and hoping the American people won’t notice.
With a $34 TRILLION national debt, we cannot saddle our children and our grandchildren with the bill. I will continue to fight to protect YOUR tax money and make sure your tax money is not used to fund idiotic ideas.
