This Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd, America pauses to honor every firefighter who gave their lives in the line of duty, including 97 who we lost in 2025

When the alarm sounds, firefighters run toward danger while everyone else runs away. That’s the job—and those who put their lives on the line while protecting their community should be honored by our entire nation.

This weekend, every family remembering their loved one should know that the highest office in our land stands behind them. And when my bill—the Medal of Sacrifice—is signed into law, they will have proof: it authorizes the President of the United States to bestow any first responder or law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty with a permanent tribute. It’s the first of its kind, and it comes from the loss of three officers in our own community. Every name added to the memorial this weekend is an individual who answered the call until their last breath—they have all earned the Medal of Sacrifice

The bill has passed the House already and Lindsey Graham is working hard on our mission in the Senate.

Please join me in honoring these heroes and praying for the families they left behind.
