As the father of four, there are few issues more personal to me than ensuring that our kids’ education sets them up for success.

This week, we recognize National School Choice Week and the freedom school choice gives families across the country.  Particularly in the last two years, we’ve seen why school choice matters.  Parents have been pushed out of their kids’ education, and kids have become pawns in games played by the teachers’ unions.  Students deserve better.

Brianna and I made the decision to homeschool our kids, and it’s been a huge blessing for our family.  It’s allowed us to personalize education for each of them, as well as given them the opportunity to study history and social studies up close and personal by traveling to Washington, D.C. with me.

My family’s experience highlights why National School Choice Week is so important.  It reminds everyone of the importance of empowering families to make the best decision for their kids’ education and pick the school that is right for them, whether that’s public, parochial, private, or, as in my family’s case, homeschool.

But don’t take my word for it.  Hear it straight from my kids, Magnum and Maverick, about what they like best about their homeschool experience.
