Eighty-one years ago, Allied forces liberated Auschwitz and exposed the full horror of the Holocaust.

After witnessing the unfathomable evils committed by Nazis in the German death camps, then-General Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote, “I have never felt able to describe my emotional reactions when I first came face to face with indisputable evidence of Nazi brutality and ruthless disregard of every shred of decency.”

He understood that what he saw could one day be questioned or denied. He made it his duty to document everything and to leave absolutely no room for skepticism over what happened. His foresight ensured the world would never forget the consequences of hatred.

Today, we are seeing a deeply troubling rise in antisemitism around the world. Holocaust denial is growing louder, and radical groups still call for the destruction of the world’s only Jewish state, Israel. International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a call to action beyond honoring the six million Jewish lives lost and the millions of others murdered by the Nazis. We must confront antisemitism wherever it appears. We must reject the lies that fuel it.

I stand firmly against antisemitism with my full support for the endurance Jewish state of Israel. Today, we remember the victims of the Holocaust and honor the survivors. “Never again” is more than a promise, it is a responsibility we must abide by all year.
