Stuart, Fla. – Today, Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) announced that Isabel Flores from Jensen Beach High School won the 2017 18th District Congressional Art Competition with her piece “Art Class.”

“The Congressional Art Competition is a great way to highlight young artists in our community,” Rep. Mast said. “It was great to see the creativity in all of the submissions. Congratulations to Isabel from Jensen Beach High School. I look forward to hanging her work in the Capitol.”

Every year since 1982, the U.S. House of Representatives has offered talented young artists from across the country the opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities. A panel of local experts selected the winning submission based on their expertise and online voting results. “Art Class” will be displayed in a year-long exhibit in the U.S. Capitol building and Flores will be flown to Washington, D.C. to attend the official art show opening with Members of Congress.

The competition was open to all high school students in Florida’s 18th Congressional District, and “Art Class” was selected out of dozens of submissions.
