Mast Announces 2020 Congressional Art Competition For 18th District High School Students

Winning Art will be Part of Year-Long Display in U.S. Capitol Building

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) announced today that submissions are now being accepted for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. All high school students in Florida’s 18th Congressional District are eligible to participate.

“This is a great way to highlight the talent and creativity of young artists in our community,” Rep. Mast said. “I’m looking forward to seeing this fun competition bring out the best in our high school students.”

Every year since 1982, the U.S. House of Representatives has offered talented young artists from across the country the opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities. A panel of local experts will select the winning submission based on their expertise at the Congressional Art Competition District Reception on April 23, 2020. The first place artwork will be displayed in a year-long exhibit in the U.S. Capitol building and the winner will be flown to Washington, D.C. to attend the official art show opening with Members of Congress.

The submission deadline is April 22, 2020 at 5 p.m. Artwork should be submitted in person at one of the 18th Congressional District Offices in Stuart, Port St. Lucie or North Palm Beach. More information and a complete list of rules is available at https://mast.house.gov/art-submission.
