Mast Statement on Discharges Resuming

Mast Continues Call For Federal State of Emergency

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today vowed to continue fighting to stop discharges and protect our waterways after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers resumed discharges from Lake Okeechobee:

“Our community did not create this problem or these conditions on Lake Okeechobee.  It is absolutely absurd that we are being forced to have the health of our citizens placed at this risk. We are in a war for our water and for the health and safety of our families, our environment, and our local economy. We will continue fighting to end the destruction of our community, to protect our kids, to keep our families safe and to send the water south where mother nature intended it to go.”
