Last week was a great one for veterans. As you already know, we began on Monday by passing 8 bills that will help veterans, including an expansion of the G.I. Bill program that included my legislation to ensure Purple Heart recipients have access to benefits.

What you might not know is that we rounded out the week with another 4 veterans bills, including bipartisan agreement to continue funding the Choice Program. Here's what we got done:

S. 114 provides $2.1 billion to continue the Choice Program for six months while Congress works on other reforms to strengthen and improve care provided through this critical program. The bill also includes provisions to enhance the recruitment, retention and training of the VA workforce.

The VA Senior Executive Accountability Act will improve transparency by requiring the VA to inform Congress about where senior executives are being moved.

The Grow Our Own Directive: Physician Assistant Employment and Education Act directs the VA to provide educational assistance to former members of the Armed Forces with medical experience for training as VA physician assistants.

The Veterans’ Access to Child Care Act requires the VA to assess the feasibility of providing child care services for veterans receiving mental health services and other intensive health care services.
