Following my 12-year career in the Army, I was fortunate to be able to use the G.I. Bill to go back to school, finish my education and get back to work. Ensuring that every one of my brothers and sisters in arms has access to these resources and benefits after their service is incredibly important to me.

That’s why I’m excited to share that this week the House passed the Protect the G.I. Bill Act to make it easier for veterans to transition into civilian life and achieve their educational goals. This was just 1 of 16 different pieces of legislation the House passed this week to help veterans and their families, including:

The bottom line is that when somebody decides to put on the uniform and serve their country, they are making a decision to put life as they know it on hold and sacrifice for our nation. We may never be able to fully repay them for their service, but that will never stop me from trying.
