The Paycheck Protection Program has $138 billion in funding left in it that could be lent to small businesses again starting tomorrow, but Speaker Pelosi is blocking a vote to authorize distributing the money. I’m fighting to get this funding released ASAP!
For those that don’t remember, the Paycheck Protection Program was created by Congress as part of the CARES Act. The program saved more than 65,000 jobs in our community and helped countless businesses stay afloat during the coronavirus!
Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi let this program expire back in August with no plans to extend it. This is unacceptable, which is why I went to the House Floor this morning to sign what’s called a “discharge petition” demanding a vote on a bill to extend this critical program for businesses all across the country. If we get a majority of the House of Representatives to sign our petition, we can override Speaker Pelosi’s opposition and force a vote!
I’m hopeful that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will join me in signing this petition to provide additional relief to small businesses and help keep people employed!
