After I lost my legs serving in Afghanistan, I volunteered alongside the Israel Defense Forces. There, I saw firsthand the impact of the terrorist attacks Hamas has launched against Israel.

With rocket after rocket, Hamas has attempted to wipe Israel off the map.  In fact, Hamas is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Israelis and at least two dozen Americans.  We cannot sit idly by while our ally Israel is under attack - any person, group or government who supports Hamas is complicit and should not be rewarded.

That’s why I’m grateful that the House passed my bipartisan amendment to impose sanctions on financial backers of Hamas and its acts of violence in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  This amendment is a powerful statement that we stand with our ally, Israel, and that the rest of the world must pick a side: freedom and democracy or violence and oppression.

Israel is a crucial partner in the Middle East, and the United States must continue to stand with her.  I will make sure that our ally is well-equipped to defend itself against the terrorists next door.
