International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Eighty years ago, the world witnessed the absolute horrors of Auschwitz as Allied forces liberated the concentration camp.
When then-General Dwight Eisenhower entered Germany in 1945, he and his troops were horrified to realize the rumors were true. Standing in front of the tragedy that took millions of innocent lives, he described: “I have never felt able to describe my emotional reactions when I first came face to face with indisputable evidence of Nazi brutality and ruthless disregard of every shred of decency.”
He then said he felt it was his duty to testify and make sure he leaves no room for “cynical doubt.” He documented every aspect of how this unjustifiable hatred had wreaked havoc across Germany and its occupied territories.
Despite General Eisenhower’s efforts, today, we face a horrifying rise in antisemitism, and terrorist groups still threaten to erase the only Jewish homeland. On October 7th, 2023 more than 1,400 Israeli civilians were brutally murdered in the single deadliest attack in the nation’s history. This hatred, rooted in Holocaust denial and the desire to destroy Israel, must come to an end.
As your Representative, I will continue to stand against antisemitism and support Israel every day. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the innocent lives lost and renew our resolve to fight hatred in all its forms.
