I hope all of you had a peaceful Thanksgiving—we had a full week in Washington as Congress was back in session. First off, I’m keeping the family of National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom in my prayers. When a service member is killed while defending our freedom, they deserve our full attention, respect, and gratitude. It’s why I’m pushing for the passage of my bill, the Final Honors Act, that would give the families of the fallen the opportunity to let their loved one lie in state under the dome of the Capitol.

Also this week, as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I presided over a full committee markup where Members discussed many critical proposals to strengthen American leadership abroad and maintain our national security.

For more on all of this, and an update on how House Republicans are working to make America affordable again, watch my Week in Review here.
