In case you missed it, the national debt has now topped $30 trillion.  It’s clear that Washington has a spending problem, and they’re spending YOUR money.  

Every dollar that the federal government spends is one that has been taken out of your wallet.  It’s clear to me that Congress needs a reminder that it’s not their money to blow, it’s yours.  That’s why, in the Foreign Affairs Committee this week, I offered a simple amendment.  Anywhere a bill says “government funding,” it should be changed to “taxpayer funding.”  

Whether it’s foreign aid or social security, your money is paying for those programs.  Lawmakers need to be more aware of that.  I break it all down here:
