Christmas came early this year! Congress approved a historic $200 million for Everglades restoration this week - nearly tripling funding for critical projects like the EAA Southern Storage Reservoir, the C-44 Reservoir and the Kissimmee Restoration Project.
We fought hard all year to get this done. These projects will give the Army Corps and the South Florida Water Management District more flexibility to store and treat water from Lake Okeechobee.
As a result, I’m confident we will continue to reduce discharges, combat harmful algal blooms and clean up our waterways. This is a big win for the Everglades and the best gift we could have asked for this holiday season.

In case you missed it, here are a few other things that happened this week:
- We made incredible progress to put an end to cruel animal testing at the VA.
- Governor DeSantis announced plans to lower drug prices for Floridians.
- I voted against the partisan impeachment of President Donald Trump. Click here to hear why I voted ‘no.’
