The House Is Back Open
As you may have heard, the House of Representatives has a new leader! House Republicans unanimously voted for Congressman Mike Johnson from Louisiana, making him the 56th Speaker of the House. Speaker Johnson is a devout Christian and an accomplished lawyer, and I have no doubt he will lead this body guided by a commitment to the Bible and the Constitution.
With the new Speaker sworn in, the House immediately got back to work. The first order of business was to pass a resolution showing our support for Israel and condemning Hamas and its enabler, Iran.
The reality is, with President Biden in the White House, America’s reputation has been in a free fall. From the catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and now Hamas’ attack on Israel, all our adversaries have attempted to take advantage of the vacuum created by a lack of American leadership.
On top of that, there’s a wide open southern border allowing fentanyl to flood our communities and individuals on the terror watchlist to attempt to infiltrate our nation. All the while, we’re still dealing with the disastrous impacts of #Bidenomics and this Administration’s soft-on-crime policies.
We’ve got our work cut out for us, but we’re not going to give up. With a unified Republican Conference, we’re going to work day-in and day-out to hold the Biden Administration accountable, rein in federal spending, and keep Americans safe. As always, I’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
