Small business owners are the backbone of our communities.  Those who own and operate their own companies are truly living the American Dream.  But one of the biggest threats to that dream is an out-of-control federal government that loves to wrap everything in red tape.

President Biden is one of the worst offenders.  In his first year alone, he finalized regulations that added more than $200 billion in new regulatory costs - more than four times the cost incurred by President Obama.

Every regulation passed makes it that much more difficult for small businesses to operate.  Washington should be doing everything possible to make it easier for those who spur our economic growth to do their jobs.  That’s why House Republicans, with my support, passed the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which gives Congress oversight of executive actions that would have a significant economic impact.

Congress was created to be a check and balance on the executive branch, and this bill fulfills that key function.  It’s a great step in making sure the federal government doesn’t keep our businesses stuck in red tape, but instead lets our economy thrive.  That’s what I’ll continue to push for each and every day.
