Bills Passed to Prioritize Veterans
Our nation’s veterans and their families have all made huge sacrifices so that the rest of our country can live free. That’s why I believe it is imperative that our government prioritize caring for veterans. I thought you’d be glad to hear that the House of Representatives passed several bills this week with my support to do just that:
-
The Homeless Veterans CREDIT Act will help improve financial and credit counseling for homeless veterans and veterans experiencing housing instability.
-
The VA Police Improvement and Accountability Act requires the VA to establish policies and procedures regarding accountability and staffing of its police force.
-
The VA FOIA Reform Act requires the VA to establish and implement a plan to reduce its backlog of Freedom of Information Act requests to ensure transparency to veterans and the American people.
-
The VA Hospitals Establishing Leadership Performance Act requires the VA to establish qualifications and related performance metrics to improve the quality of service that veterans receive from VA staff.
Passing these bills is good progress, but there is always more to be done. If you or someone you know needs help, please do not hesitate to call our office at 202-225-3026.
