Protecting Our Second Amendment Rights
When the Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights, they knew that the right to bear arms was fundamental. Americans are guaranteed the right to protect themselves and their families.
However, as anti-gun activists push to ban all firearms, they’ve successfully pressured major credit card companies to enact their radical leftist agenda. Every purchase made with a credit card is tagged with something called a “Merchant Category Code,” which identifies the type of item bought. This week, the credit card companies announced that there will be a new code specifically for firearm purchases, essentially identifying anyone who purchases guns and ammunitions.
In other words, by creating this new, separate category, law-abiding Americans using a credit card to purchase a firearm can be marked as “suspicious,” just for exercising their Second Amendment rights.
It’s unacceptable. I am completely opposed to any efforts to create a gun registry or to track gun owners - and this comes dangerously close. I am demanding answers from these credit card companies about this asinine decision, and I will be fighting to make sure that this data isn’t used to turn law-abiding citizens into criminals.
