College Cost Reduction Act
This last weekend was Parent’s Day and a major goal for every parent who sends their children to college is that they receive the best education money can buy.
Sadly, skyrocketing costs have made college a goal out-of-reach for many Americans. Even worse is that the money you do spend often doesn’t lead to great entry level jobs.
I think this is a travesty and it’s why I’m supporting the College Cost Reduction Act. This bill, authored by my friend Rep. Virginia Foxx, would radically overhaul our higher education system to make it more accountable to parents and students.
-
It requires colleges to personalize and make clear and accessible information about college costs and the return on investment available to students and families.
-
Holds institutions financially responsible for overpriced degrees that leave students with unaffordable debt and a lack of job options.
-
Funds colleges based on student outcomes rather than excessive regulations that further increase costs to families.
This act makes colleges responsible for the degrees they offer. How many schools will continue pushing BS degrees in gender studies if they’re federal funding is tied to students in those majors succeeding post graduation?
Our country is long overdue for an education policy that puts the next generation of Americans FIRST.
I’ll fight to have this bill come to the House floor this year. Stay tuned!
