Supplying America Needs Truckers Aged 18 Act (SANTA 18 Act)
Biden’s supply chain crisis has left packages floating in ports off the coast of the U.S. for weeks, and his “plans” to fix the crisis haven’t worked. Keeping the ports open 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week hasn’t helped because there aren’t enough truckers available to deliver the goods.
That’s why I introduced the Supply America Needs Truckers Aged 18 Act, or the SANTA 18 Act. This bill would eliminate unnecessary red tape and get more drivers on the road by allowing 18- to 20-year-old truckers to transport cargo coming off ships at overloaded ports. Under current law, even if they have a commercial driver’s license and transport goods within their state, they are not allowed to make pickups and deliveries from ports.
Not only will this bill eliminate policies that unnecessarily handcuff American workers, but it will also maximize the labor force in the United States to help fix Joe Biden’s supply chain crisis leading up to Christmas.
