This week was the very first week of the new Congress, and I was honored to be sworn in for a second time to continue fighting to make our community safer, healthier, and stronger.
The federal government, through the Army Corps of Engineers, has played a huge role in perpetuating the human health crisis caused by Lake Okeechobee discharges and they need to take responsibility for the damage by helping to pay for the cleanup.
After seven years of war and the deaths of more than half of a million people, the atrocities of the Assad regime are still ongoing with the help of Russia and Iran. The United States must push for an end to the violence and suffering in Syria and hold the perpetrators accountable.

This was a truly amazing veterans day, and following veterans day, this week I helped introduce a bipartisan bill to recognize the service of the over 2 million female veterans in our country.
